Pepperoni Pizza
Ingredients
For the dough:
- 3.5-4 cups flour
- 1 1/3 cups warm water
- 2 tsp yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
For the sauce:
- 3 tomatoes (peeled)
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp basil
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- to taste salt, red pepper flakes and black pepper
Additionally:
- 450-600 g mozzarella
- 150-200 g pepperoni
- 2 tsp oregano
Instructions
To prepare the dough
- dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water, cover with kitchen plastic wrap, and let it sit for 15 minutes to activate the yeast.
- Sift the flour into a bowl, add salt, and mix well. Then add the yeast mixture and knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes.
- Finally, knead in the olive oil. You should get a soft, elastic dough. Brush 1 teaspoon of olive oil over the dough, cover it with kitchen plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 – 1.5 hours.
Sauce
- Place the peeled tomatoes in a blender, add finely chopped garlic, tomato paste, spices, salt, and pepper. Blend for a few minutes until you get a homogeneous mixture.
- Transfer the risen dough to a floured surface. Divide it into three or four equal parts (depending on how thin you like your pizza, I prefer it divided into four parts). Roll each one out to a 30 cm diameter, transfer it to a baking sheet, spread 2 tablespoons of sauce on it, sprinkle 150 grams of grated mozzarella, arrange pepperoni slices on top, and sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon of oregano.
- Cover the remaining dough balls with a tea towel or kitchen plastic wrap until baking to prevent the surface from drying out. Place in a preheated oven at 220-250 degrees Celsius and bake for about 10 minutes.Bon Appetit!
