These rolls always remind me of childhood. My cousins’ grandma used to bake and I loved them so much.

Walnut rolls

  • 300 g sugar
  • 250 g butter
  • 500 ml matsoni (or yogurt)
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 g vanilla sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • flour (to get soft dough)

  • 150 g walnut (ground)
  • 150 g sugar

  • Beat sugar and egg together, add melted butter and baking soda dissolved in yogurt. Slowly add flour and vanilla. Knead the dough for 4-5 minutes. You should get a soft dough. Then cover the dough with a tea towel and let it rest for 15-30 minutes.
  • Mix ground walnuts and sugar in a separate bowl.
  • Divide the dough into several parts and roll it out on a floured surface. Apply oil and sprinkle walnut and sugar mix all over the dough. Roll it up and cut it into medium-sized pieces.
  • Transfer the rolls to a floured baking dish and place in an oven heated to 180°C. Bake for 20 minutes.
    Bon Appetit!
