These rolls always remind me of childhood. My cousins’ grandma used to bake and I loved them so much.
Walnut rolls
Ingredients
- 300 g sugar
- 250 g butter
- 500 ml matsoni (or yogurt)
- 4 eggs
- 2 g vanilla sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- flour (to get soft dough)
Filling
- 150 g walnut (ground)
- 150 g sugar
Instructions
- Beat sugar and egg together, add melted butter and baking soda dissolved in yogurt. Slowly add flour and vanilla. Knead the dough for 4-5 minutes. You should get a soft dough. Then cover the dough with a tea towel and let it rest for 15-30 minutes.
- Mix ground walnuts and sugar in a separate bowl.
- Divide the dough into several parts and roll it out on a floured surface. Apply oil and sprinkle walnut and sugar mix all over the dough. Roll it up and cut it into medium-sized pieces.
- Transfer the rolls to a floured baking dish and place in an oven heated to 180°C. Bake for 20 minutes.Bon Appetit!
